Book Swap 1, 2008

Last week I invited the bookiest best from my friends and acquaintances to get rid of books they don't want anymore and get anything that rouses their imagination, all for free.

I was too dumb and tired to think to take photographs during the actual event, but luckily my partner in crime busted out the camera late in the evening to capture the what-it-is of the book swap:

Note participant's work clothes and glazed look.

Leftover books.

No more condiments.

Doing it right.

See what you missed being all "tired from work?"
Amy Ambulette's haul here.

Argh! I envy EVERYTHING included in this post: the pile of books, the debris of cocktails, the eating straight from the pot, the fellow with enough manners to show up wearing a necktie.

Maybe I can be a special Canadian guest-star at another such get-together in future, like this spring for instance.

Sigh...

Oh, I hope so! You really need to ride that low dollar wave...

One of my favorite things about these evenings is how conversations about reading and literature kind of crops up throughout the night; we talk about anything and everything but books appear inthe conversations like they are important, yet fun. This is a rare thing.

I do wish more people would make surprising guest appearances. I guess I'd have to do it on a weekend then...

I can't believe no one took *Why People Don't Heal and How they Can*?!?!

I promise I will even wear a necktie, too! March...possibly a NYC visit in March! Cross fingers. We can be bookish together and also high-five each other on emerging from our winter cocoons.

PS: I am intrigued that something posted on your fridge door warranted a disguising black bar!

Amanda, that is not my fridge, scarily enough.

I thought that afterwards..."Hmmm, wee little fridge...perhaps filing cabinet? safe? largest computer on earth? personal robot making mean eyes at camera?" Then figured meh, maybe fridge after all!
